Phil Scott & Terence O'Connell in association with Hayes Theatre Co present
REVIEWING THE SITUATION
Written by Terence O’Connell and Phil Scott
Directed by Terence O’Connell
A hit at the 2015 Cabaret Season, Phil Scott returns in 2016 with his delightful and insightful look into the life of Lionel Bart.
Once he was Britain's most celebrated composer who created the iconic musical Oliver! and lived in a 27 room 'Fun Palace' where his party guests included Noel Coward, Rudolf Nureyev and The Beatles. Now he's bankrupt and ensconced in a flat above a laundromat. At his piano and fuelled by more than a few vodkas, Lionel Bart is REVIEWING THE SITUATION as he sings us the songs (including Living Doll, From Russia With Love, You've Got To Pick A Pocket Or Two and As Long As He Needs Me) and shares stories from his incredible life.
"...a fine tribute to a lost talent." - Australian Stage Online
"a one-man show that positively bursts with Bart’s own irreverent joy for life and living it to the fullest." - The Advertiser
"Scott creates an endearing character with a ready wit, ... [his]wizardry on the piano is a genuine delight as his fingers fly effortlessly across the keys bringing Bart’s simple melodies to jaunty life." - Jo Litson, Sunday Telegraph
